The new Bugaboo Bee+ is a happy replacement of our Micralite Toro (see Micralite Toro Stroller – Black! )
Pros:
- Looks great! We’ve received many compliments and inquiries. Love the eye-popping yellow canopy, but it’s more yellow-orange than bumblebee yellow.
- Height-adjustable seat back.
- Depth-adjustable seat bottom.
- Telescoping adjustment for handle height.
- 4-wheel independent suspension. Smooth and quiet ride!
- Easy one-step folding. Quick unfolding…POP!
- Seat can be forward- or rear-facing when strolling or folding.
- Generously sized and easy-to-access underseat basket.
- Lightweight and compact (especially when folded).
- Foam-filled rubber tires (no flats!)
- No obtrusive bumper bar to get in the way of seating child.
- Generously sized sun canopy.
- Can hook a full diaper bag and a few shopping bags to handlebar without stroller tipping over.
- Can attach an infant car (with optional adapters), making it a good travel system.
Cons:
- Expensive! and not much in the way of extras for the price (only a rain shield). A travel case could be included.
- Could come with at least one cup holder given the price.
- No option for bigger wheels that could stroll through dirt and grass more easily.
- Just because sun canopies can now be purchased separately, the first one should be included. ($600 for just the base [at time of posting])
- Adjusting the handlebar height could be easier if there was a single lock/lever mechanism instead of two.

I was so hopeful., August 9, 2011

Laura

First, let me start by saying that this is more of an apology to my current strollers, UppaBaby Vista 2010 and Cybex Onyx 2011.

REALLY test this stroller in all situations. Put your baby in it facing both directions, recline the stroller completely as if your baby were napping, and then pull the canopy taut. Now imagine you’re at Disneyland, the park, the zoo and it’s a beautiful sunny day. Forget it. Even if you were to hang a blanket over the canopy, the canopy is so short, it’d dangle in your baby’s face and the legs would still be exposed.

I let Bugaboo’s great looks and fashionable styling, plus the idea of “limited edition soft pink canopy” sway my heart, and I was wrong.

I wanted to find the perfect compromise to eliminate the need for 2 strollers: a well-built, beautiful, functional, mid-size stroller for my 15 month old.

The Bugaboo Bee Plus was SO promising with its reversible seat, height adjustable handle (with a SHORT setting), independent suspension, reasonable weight, reasonable storage basket, ease of fold, good upright/deep recline, etc.

The fold takes some getting used to, just like the Uppababy, but once practiced and loosened up, it’s fairly easy, however I have strong hands. It does require a trigger pull and a button squeeze, if you have arthritis in your thumb or other hand problems, this takes some hand muscle. However, once triggered, it collapses smoothly. It’s just the initial “squeeze”.

I don’t like that it folds to the ground and rests on the foam handle. Take a tip from Uppababy and put some rubber nubs on that handle to protect it! One nick in the foam and it’s a Pandora’s Box. The unfold *POP* is easy, but takes a little getting use to, it take some force to open.

I just cannot get past the REALLY REALLY REALLY awful and inadequate sun canopy. It is truly awful. It’s beautiful, but that’s it, good to look at like a useless accessory to the stroller. There is a separate “breezy” canopy for purchase, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about the floppiness of it and it comes in silver only. Plus it’s not easily swappable because it uses only the one set of canopy wires. Also, for a stroller with such smooth handling, the canopy is a total clunker. It’s noisy to adjust, loud clicks.

I don’t want a silver canopy, I want a beautiful full coverage COLOR canopy. If Bugaboo can get its act together and design a better canopy and offer it in beautiful colors, I won’t hesitate to drop 600 dollars on it. Until then, this stroller is going back to the store it came from and I’ll humbly go back to my Uppababy Vista! It is bigger and less attractive, but it has everything the Bee Plus has, a canopy that cannot be beat (and great snack tray, too) and much better customer service.

Great Buy, February 2, 2011

Extremely satisfied with my Bugaboo Bee Plus purchase – note this review is for the PLUS model. This has been my exclusive stroller for my now six month old son and I couldnt be more pleased. As a newborn, I took full advantage of the cocoon. My son just loved it. He’s now outgrown the cocoon, but still enjoys his stroller rides. The Bee Plus handles like a dream, even over rough broken city sidewalks. Its compact, light weight and ultra chic. The basket is somewhat small, but I’m able to pack the necessities. If youre looking to cram bags of crap under your stroller this Bee isnt for you.I recommend buying the sun shade but this might be more of an issue for me since I live in sunny san diego. Overall, worth the price. This is the only stroller you need!
